Cadfarch is a Welsh word which means ‘War Horse’. Our Cadfarch display shows the requisitioning and training of civilian horses for use by the army in the First World War. It begins with a scene of civilian horses on a typical day at start of the war. We show the army requisitioning the horses, which are then ‘trained’ and take part in a passing out parade at the walk, trot and canter. The horses then go off to Flanders and the display ends with an exciting charge into battle. The entire 20 minute display is performed to music, with accompanying commentary.
Hiya team, we were at Draycott in the Clay show this afternoon and would just like to say how much we enjoyed your display. The storytelling and ring actions really brought home in a concentrated time scale the acquisition and use of horses for use in the First World War. Well put together, best wishes, Jackie and Tony Williams
